A 17-year-old suspect in a string of shootings that took place across Austin, Texas over the weekend has been revealed to be an illegal immigrant. Cristian Mondragon has been charged with six felonies.

Per Fox 7, prosecutors revealed that Mondragon is not a US citizen, and ICE currently has a detainer placed on him. Mondragon has been charged with two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, theft of firearms, and evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

Prosecutors said additional charges could still be coming for Mondragon. Two other suspects in the case, 15 and 16 years of age, have also been arrested. Their identities have not been released. The judge ordered Mondragon to be held without bond on the aggravated assault charges.

Police say a string of shootings, vehicle thefts, and robberies took place between May 16 and 17 in South and East Austin. Authorities are investigating at least 12 separate shootings that took place, with homes, businesses, and two fire department stations, as well as three fire trucks, being hit.

Authorities say Mondragon had an active warrant for stealing a firearm from the store where the 15-year-old suspect stole another gun on Saturday. The suspects are believed to have stolen at least four vehicles during the spree and may have changed vehicles multiple times. The Austin Police Department said that over the course of the 12 shootings, four people were injured, three of whom had non-life-threatening injuries, while the fourth had critical injuries. Police also said five cars were hit by gunfire, as well as four homes.
