On Monday, Illinois Judge Daniel O’Brien ordered that 18-year-old Julian Pinedo, who is accused of stabbing a 14-year-old girl after she refused his sexual advances, will receive a psychiatric evaluation.

The Oakland Press reports that Pinedo met the girl via a social media website and the crime occurred at the girl's home in Springfield Township on January 25 a little after midnight, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

According to local news, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said, "Meeting in person with people you have met online can be extremely dangerous. You have no idea of who that person really is or their motivation. Anytime you meet someone via the internet, it is always a very good idea to do so in a public setting, and preferably have someone else with you."

The girl was found by her parents, who were not home when the two met but arrived after the incident, and they called 911 when they discovered their daughter in her condition. She was found with multiple stab wounds to her midsection and back.

Pinedo was later arrested in Waterford after calling 911 on himself. Upon arrest, he reportedly informed authorities that he was mad that the girl was not willing to have sex with him.

He said that the knife he used, which had an 8-inch blade, was purchased the day before.

The psychiatric evaluation request was made in Oakland County Circuit Court by Pinedo's attorney. Pinedo has been charged with assault with intent to murder and could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.

Pinedo is being held on a $2 million bond at the Oakland County Jail.
