The Michigan Liquor Control Commission has revoked the liquor licenses of eight businesses since Dec. 9, bringing the total number of businesses to have their liquor licenses suspended in the state to 21 since September.

The businesses were found to be breaking the emergency orders of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services restricting public indoor gatherings for residents of the state. These businesses, however, welcomed patrons for indoor dining, local WZZM13 reported.

The state has said that restaurants which host indoor patrons in defiance of the state's lockdown orders must be held accountable with a liquor license suspension or revocation.

Seven of the eight latest businesses to see their licenses suspended will have hearings before an Administrative Law Judge on a Dec. 23 Zoom call. The judge will decide whether the suspension should continue and whether the businesses should be subjected to other fees and fines.

The other business had a hearing on Dec. 14.
