Francisco Lopez-Ramirez, 42, was arrested on July 4 by Provo Police and was subsequently charged with the rape of a child and other sex crimes.
A foreign national from Mexico has been arrested by Provo, Utah police in connection to the rape of a child in the Beehive state. Police records indicate that Francisco Lopez-Ramirez, 42, was arrested on Independence Day and was subsequently charged with the rape of a child and other sex crimes.
Lopez-Ramirez was born in Mexico had an ICE detainer placed on him in connection to the charges and arrest, according to police records. He was arrested by the Provo Police Department and is being held in jail in Utah County.
Other charges against Lopez-Ramirez include unlawful sexual activity with a minor and unlawful sexual activity with a 16 to 17-year-old. According to police records, he is not allowed to be bailed out of jail. He was booked about an hour after his arrest and his case will go to Utah's fourth district court.
The state has faced other cases of illegal immigrants being arrested in connection to child rape cases as well as other crimes. An illegal immigrant from Guatemala was arrested and then charged with the rape of 11-year-old girl in Provo, Utah earlier in February. The state has faced illegal immigration as an ongoing issue with the continued border crisis. New York as well as the Democrat controlled city of Denver have bussed and flown illegal immigrants into Utah.
In April, a Honduran illegal immigrant, that had been deported three times previously, was busted for possession of 124,000 fentanyl pills in Salt Lake City. According to the Utah News Dispatch, Utah is on pace to have a record number of fentanyl pills seized in the state this year, and the influx of the drug has been thanks to Mexican criminal groups that have infiltrated the state.
