In a heartbreaking incident, a six-week-old baby was reportedly mauled to death while sleeping in his crib by the family’s dog. Ezra Mansoor succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, six days after the family's husky attacked him in their Tennessee home.
"Being his mom was the biggest honor and the best thing I've ever done," Chloe Mansoor, Ezra's mother, told WVLT. Ezra was the firstborn of parents Chloe and Mark, who said they never imagined their child could be in danger from their dog.
The attack occurred while Ezra was asleep in his crib. The couple had owned the dog for eight years and described the incident as "completely unprovoked." They had two dogs in the home, neither of which had a history of aggression.
The family is urging others to be aware of potential risks, even with pets that have no prior aggressive behavior.
“To just bring awareness that it could be any dog at any time. Completely unprovoked, no matter what the history is,” Chloe Mansoor emphasized.
Chloe also reflected on the preciousness of life, saying, "Really don't take anything for granted even if it's a moment you're annoyed in the moment or frustrated in. All of those little moments are still so amazing.”
The couple has reportedly decided to donate Ezra’s organs to help other babies in need.
"Pray for all the family really, everyone loved him so much. I know everyone's grieving right now, we're grieving right now, and it's going to be a lifelong process trying to work through this,” Chloe Mansoor told reporters.
