Las Vegas police have arrested eight teens ages 13-17 in connection with the beating death of Jonathan Lewis. Police are still seeking two more suspects. Lewis was beaten by a mob outside the Rancho High School and died that day from those injuries. Lewis was found unresponsive after the beating in the alley near the school and was brought back to the school.

These suspects were taken into custody by local officers in coordination with an FBI Criminal Apprehension team. This came after nine search warrants were executed and clothing matching those worn by the individuals seen in footage of the fight, as well as cell phones, Fox 5 reports.

Police may find more footage on those phones. "There's a high likelihood that there's additional video out there that we don't have," Homicide Lt. Jason Johansson said. He also encouraged parents to talk to their children about the incident, and warned "please don't put your head in the sand."

"Remind them that their actions have consequences. Their actions have lasting consequences, their actions have lifelong consequences," Johansson said.

Johansson said that the fight started over a pair of wireless headphones and perhaps a vape pen as well. These items were allegedly taken from Lewis' friend and Lewis, along with his friend, had agreed to meet in the alley and fight over it, police said.

After the fighting, police responded to a call to the area and found Lewis "battered and bleeding from the head." Once at the hospital, he was placed on life support, but his condition only worsened. The suspects, Johansson said, may be charged as adults.

"As soon as a punch is thrown, ten subjects immediately swarm him," Johansson said. Ten individuals were identified by the police, and it is from among those ten that the eight suspects were "positively identified." The other two are still being sought.

Lewis' family donated his organs after an autopsy was performed. A GoFundMe was also launched.
