AG Ken Paxton says Texas ‘Republican establishment’ lawmakers plan to impeach him AGAIN

"These weak-kneed, pro-open border Republicans will work with the Democrats to replace me with an AG who will turn a blind eye to voter fraud."

On Wednesday, Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton took aim at an upcoming Texas House General Investigating Committee hearing and described it as a "desperate establishment plot to resurrect impeachment." Paxton was impeached last year for allegedly misusing his political power, but each article of impeachment was dismissed.

Paxton said at the time that it was a "sham impeachment coordinated by the Biden Administration with liberal House Speaker Dade Phelan" and that the impeachment process had become weaponized.

"Next week's House General Investigating Committee is yet another desperate attempt by the Republican establishment to impeach me," Paxton told Newsmax's Rob Schmitt. "Their bitter obsession with taking me down knows no bounds, and they will stop at nothing to remove me from office."

Upon hearing the interview, a member of the committee told the Texas Tribune under conditions of anonymity that there was "no truth whatsoever" Paxton's claim. Chair Rep. Andrew Murr declined to comment, though that is not unusual as the committee typically keeps the subjects of its meetings under wraps.

A notice for the general investigating meeting taking place on July 17 states, "The committee will meet to consider committee business. The committee may enter into an executive session to consider any matter authorized to be considered in an executive session under Subchapter B, Chapter 301, Government Code, the Rules of the House of Representatives, the Housekeeping Resolution, and the committee’s rules."

Paxton then said that just as Biden has used the justice system to target Donald Trump, "establishment Republicans in Texas have joined forces with Democrats to launch a full-force lawfare assault against me."

"These lame-duck Republicans, who lost their primaries thanks to my support, are now conspiring with Democrats to remove me from office," he continued. "I have delivered conservative results in Texas and have been the last line of defense against voter fraud. But mark my words, these weak-kneed, pro-open border Republicans will work with the Democrats to replace me with an AG who will turn a blind eye to voter fraud."

Paxton went on to say that the pro-open-border Republican and Democrats want to "rig this election against Trump," and that if he is removed it would "pose the biggest threat to American and Texas democracy” as another AG would not prosecute voter fraud.

"The Austin elite cannot go unchecked," he concluded. "Republicans, conservatives, and patriots across the state and country need to come together and fight back. We have defeated the establishment class in Austin before, and we will do it again."
