Update: It has come to the attention of the Post Millennial that the Blackwater BW-15 airsoft gun is modeled after a rare limited edition BW-15 rifle, which is largely off the market. The original article is below.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced that the federal government has banned 1,500 different types of assault-style firearms. The list includes many types of guns but some stand out more than others.

One of the guns down the list at z.118) is the Blackwater BW-15 which is actually an toy airsoft gun. The gun runs on a battery, shoots plastic .20 g round pellets and has a bright orange tip.

Airsoft guns are commonly used by teenagers and are typically used for recreation.

Some people are confused as to whether the airsoft ban was due to poor research or was because the Blackwater BW-15 looks like a real gun, despite the orange tip.

“Canada has experienced mass shootings in rural and urban areas such as in Nova Scotia, city of Québec, Montréal, and Toronto. Whether at home or abroad, the deadliest mass shootings are commonly perpetrated with assault-style firearms,” reads the new amendment.

“These events, and concerns about the inherent deadliness of assault-style firearms used in them, have led to increasing public demand for measures to address gun violence and mass shootings in Canada.”

Update: It has become clear that the gun that was banned, the Blackwater BW-15, had the "lower" part of the gun banned. The ban, then, could be see as a measure by the Trudeau Liberals to stop potential criminals from tampering with this section and using it in a real rifle.
