Notorious left-wing funder Alex Soros was Community Noted on X on Monday, after making the absurd claim that murder rates are down in progressive-run cities. They are not, and that was pointed out. Readers added the note that the cities with the highest murder rates in the US are Democrat run.

St. Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans, Detroit, and Cleveland all top the list for high murder rates. After the top five comes Las Vegas, headed by an Independent who was previously a Democrat, then Kansas City, Memphis, Newark NJ, and Chicago, all Democrat-led.

Another note pointed out that "Blue counties tend to have higher homicide rates relative to red counties," and took the Soros family to task for continuing to fund politicians and policies in American cities that lead to worse outcomes for residents. Soros routinely funnels money into the local races for district attorney, getting DAs elected who eliminate cash bail and reduce penalties for criminal offenders. Notes on that post showed that while the states these cities are in may be Republican-led, the cities are fully controlled by Democrats.

"An impressive feat in lying with statistics," said author Matt Palumbo, who has written and researched on Alex's father George Soros.

The post from Soros was ratio'd, and full of complaints about the lack of truth in his statement. Soros had shared an article from LA Progressive that took aim at allegations that the Soros-run foundations were backing progressive politicians that end up making things worse for Americans. The article explores policing and crime increases in both urban and rural areas. It notes that murders have increased in rural areas, which they have.

In fact, murders have increased 30 percent in the US from 2019-2020, which was the highest single-year increase in over 100 years. The article from LA Progressive said the blame for the increased murder rates could not only be laid at the feet of liberal leaders. It also said not to blame the Soros family for the soft-on-crime policies of their progressive district attorneys.

Maybe that's what Alex Soros liked best about the story.

For Elon Musk, however, it was an opportunity to say that truth will out. "Those who can’t handle reality will leave this platform due to @CommunityNotes," he said. "But the public will increasingly come to realize that 𝕏 is the best source of truth, causing our user numbers to rise as they abandon the less accurate sources of information."

Community Notes was implemented as part of Musk's plans to make Twitter, now X, a free speech platform.
