Arab-American advocacy group works to 'mobilize 3 million more' Muslims in midterm elections to back DSA, Democrats

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization with ties to terror groups, is pushing to mobilize 3 million more Muslim voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Approximately 53 percent of the Muslim community in the US leans more Democrat while 42 percent lean Republican, meaning that the mobilization will likely be in favor of Democrats.  

CAIR's project to mobilize Muslim voters across the US, called Muslims Vote, is a strategic plan to register and push for more voter turnout from the Muslim community in what CAIR called an election with "unprecedented stakes and unprecedented capacity." 

Tyler Bowyer, the COO of Turning Point Action, said in a post that the effort will be devastating for the chances of Republicans in 2028. "Our side isn’t prepared for what CAIR is doing for the Democrats. Between this and illegals — they will overrun America for the 2028 election and then the census. Anyone fighting for Islam is aiding this. Better wake up now," he said.  

Although CAIR is a nonprofit and cannot openly endorse candidates, their sister entity, CAIR Action, has made endorsements in the 2026 election cycle. In Michigan, CAIR Action has endorsed progressive Abdul El-Sayed, who is running for US Senate. They have also endorsed William Lawrence, who has been a Democratic Socialists of America member in the past. 


In Minnesota, CAIR Action had endorsed Omar Fateh, a DSA member who had been in the running to unseat Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, but was unsuccessful. The organization has also endorsed Keith Ellison for Attorney General and progressive Peggy Flanagan, who is running against Republican Michele Tafoya in the race for US Senate. CAIR also endorsed Donovan McKinney, a DSA-endorsed candidate who was able to oust incumbent Democrat House member Shri Thanedar. 




The initiative from CAIR was launched in July ahead of this year's primaries and the forthcoming general midterm elections.  

At the time of the program's launch, CAIR's Government Affairs Department Director Robert McCaw said, "Muslims.Vote was created to remove barriers to civic participation by putting everything voters need in one place. Whether you’re registering to vote, confirming your polling location, checking your voting rights, or making a plan to vote, Muslims.Vote puts the power of democracy at your fingertips. Silence has never secured justice, and disengagement has never protected our communities. Every American Muslim has the opportunity, and the responsibility, to make their voice count. Show up. Speak out. Vote.” 

Although the get-out-the-vote program is required to be non-partisan, leadership in CAIR has not been with their funding. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed got over $115,000 in campaign contributions from those who have worked for or had leadership roles in CAIR. 

CAIR, like other so-called "non-profits," has come under scrutiny as the Trump administration has sought to crack down "bogus charities" that are abusing the tax code for political gain of Democrats. CAIR was reportedly one of the groups that was going to be targeted as well as the SPLC and political funding networks connected to George Soros.
