Explosive devices were recovered from a vehicle connected to two robbery suspects who police multiple officers in Saanich, British Columbia.

According to Saanich Chief Const. Dean Duthie, the RCMP explosive disposal unit was able to transfer the devices from the vehicle to a nearby landfill, where they were destroyed.

Police had already evacuated the area following the shooting on Tuesday. In total, six officers were shot, and the two suspects were killed in the gunfight with police.

Three officers are in hospital, including one in intensive care and another who will require multiple surgeries.

Duthie said that the police department will be supporting their injured colleagues. "We’re here for his family … just to let him know that the policing community is behind him 100 percent," he said, according to The Canadian Press.

Police said in a statement that they have not confirmed the identities or motivies of the individuals as of now.

No civilians or other members of the public were injured in the shooting.
