"The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about bringing political content to voters where they already are on the internet."
As President Joe Biden has been bleeding the support of young voters in recent polls, his campaign team has posted a job listing for a meme manager. The stated purpose of the position is to win voters who are terminally online.
A job posting on May 20, 2024, the Biden for President campaign states, "In this role, you will initiate and manage day-to-day operations in engaging the internet’s top content and meme pages." "The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about bringing political content to voters where they already are on the internet," the description adds.
Among the key responsibilities of the role are to "cultivate and manage relationships with top digital media companies, podcasters, and meme pages across a number of social media platforms" as well as to "identify and land engagement opportunities" for the campaign.
The campaign has embraced some meme culture in what appears to be a move to gin up support from young voters who have been moving away from the Biden camp. They incorporated the "Dark Brandon" meme in posts on the BidenHQ campaign X account page on several different occasions.
Additionally, the campaign has engaged with TikTok videos on the platform to woo younger Americans for support. The Biden campaign spent $1 million on social media influencer content to reach youth spending their time on the platform at the beginning of 2024. Biden has a history of attempting to appeal to young voters by using social media influencers. In campaigns in 2021 and 2022, the White House brought in TikTok incluencers to disseminate their messaging on Covid vaccine mandates, then Ukraine war, to young voters and online denizens. Left-wing mega-donor George Soros has funded many of the pro-Biden activists
One TikTok video was recently shared on X, praising Biden for wearing aviators and "not [being] a fascist" with upbeat music in the background.
Recent polls have identified dissatisfaction with Biden from young voters. A recent CBS/YouGov poll in May showed that Biden's approval rating has dropped 12 points with voters aged 18-29 over the previous two months. Some have even shown Trump with an edge over Biden for younger voters.
However, young voters are not the only demographic that Biden has been struggling with. Black and Hispanic voters have been giving their support to Trump in recent polling with Trump doubling his support among black voters since the 2020 election cycle, according to CNN polling averages.

This sounds like something you would find on the Babylon bee or maybe the “not the Bee” site.
