Presidential hopeful Joe Biden has said that the American people don't need to know who is on his Supreme Court nomination shortlist. He said that, in asking for his shortlist, President Trump is trying to "change the subject."

When asked if the American voters should know who Biden would appoint for a coveted Supreme Court seat, Biden said "No, they don't. But they will if I'm elected. They'll know in plenty of time."

Despite Biden's insistence that he has no reason to release a shortlist of potential justices for the nation's highest bench, there have been previous indications.

In February of this year, Biden said that he would make discriminatory decisions about who would serve on the court based on their race and sex, saying that he intended in "making sure there's a black woman on the Supreme Court."

This is a claim he and his backers have made more than a few times, though they have not given any indicate as to who that person might be.

Biden, who was against the appointment of a Supreme Court justice at the end of then President George Bush's first time in 1992, was in favour of the appointment of a Supreme Court justice in the final months of then President Barack Obama's term in 2016, and this year has returned to his earlier stance of being opposed to the nomination of a justice in the end of Trump's first term.
