Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) announced in a Judiciary Senate hearing with FBI Directo Kash Patel that whistleblowers have said that the FBI, under the name "Arctic Frost," investigated the Republican National Committee, the Republican Attorney Generals Association, as well as Turning Point USA. There were 92 GOP groups or individuals in total that were under that scrutiny.

Grassley said that the case of "Arctic Frost" was used in the electors case by Jack Smith, but that it was also expanded to encompass and investigate GOP organizations.

“These new records show that Arctic Frost was much broader than just an electoral matter. The case was expanded to Republican organizations. Some examples of the groups the Wray FBI sought to place under political investigation included the Republican National Committee, Republican Attorneys General Association and Trump political groups,” Grassley added.

"In total, 92 Republican targets, including Republican groups and Republican linked individuals were placed under investigative scope of Arctic Frost," Grassley said. "On that political list was one of Charlie Kirk’s groups, Turning Point USA.”

"In other words, Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump. It was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus."

Grassley then detailed how that investigation was also used in the prosecution of Peter Navarro, and said that when FBI agent Thibault found that he could prosecute Navarro as part of the investigation, he said, "Wow. Great."

The revelations from Grassley come with the backdrop of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and the FBI's investigation into the shooting. Authorities have said they are casting a wider net to identify if others aside from Tyler Robinson, the main suspect, had knowledge of the shooting before it took place. One of the groups being probed includes the Armed Queers of Salt Lake City, a group that wiped its social media after the September 10 assassination.
