President Joe Biden suggested acts of political violence during a speech when he mentioned Puerto Rico, and said, "I'd like to take that guy for a swim out there," after a comedian made a joke about Puerto Rico at Donald Trump's Madison Square Garden rally over the weekend.

"I'm proud to announce we're delivering $3 billion in funding from my Inflation Reduction Act to help clean up and modernize ports in 27 different states and territories from Pennsylvania to Georgia, Michigan and beyond. Including, yes, Puerto Rico," Biden said, in an apparent response to the media storm about comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's joke about Puerto Rico being a "floating island of garbage."

Biden paused in his speech and added, "I'd like to take that guy for a swim out there," suggesting political violence against the comedian, or Trump as much of the ire was directed at the former president for hosting Hinchcliffe.

Biden then continued his speech, but appeared to think he could not say more on the topic, saying that Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) was looking at him, signaling, "Don't get going, Joe, don't get going, Joe. Slow up." Biden then added in his speech about the Baltimore Port, "This also includes a $447 million for the Port of Baltimore to upgrade its cargo equipment, infrastructure and power grid."

Many online said that Biden was referring to the GOP nominee during the side comment, and have slammed the president for the remark suggestive of political violence. The taunt is also similar to some of Biden's other comments he has made about Trump. In 2016, Biden said of the now-GOP nominee, "I wish we were in high school — I could take him behind the gym."
