It has been revealed that Florida State Representative Angie Nixon advocated for the mass release of inmates during the coronavirus pandemic. Nixon, a socialist, is the Democratic nominee for the United States Senate in Florida.

The Washington Reporter unearthed a 2020 video that featured Nixon demanding the release of inmates from the Duval County Jail in Jacksonville, Florida. She made the demands while protesting alongside a left-wing police abolitionist group tied to the Communist Party USA, the Jacksonville Community Action Committee (JCAC), according to the outlet.

Nixon told a reporter during the protest: "We are really demanding that the  [Jacksonville Sheriff's Office], the mayor, really consider those that are elderly and sick and release them. That's what needs to happen." Demonstrators arrived at the jail carrying signs that included phrases such as "COVID-19 - Death Trap. Mass Release Now. #FreeThemAll" and "no one deserves to die of COVID-19 in jail."

The JCAC is affiliated with several radical left-wing groups. One of them is the National Alliance Against Race and Political Repression (NAARPR). The leftist organization supports numerous demonstrations and other left-wing organizations nationwide, such as the Communist Party USA and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. Additionally, JCAC received donations from organizations supported by George Soros's Open Society Foundation, including the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Black Voters Matter.

Nixon is running to unseat Republican Senator Ashley Moody in November. The Republican Party of Florida labeled Nixon a "far-left crazy person" earlier this year due to her "history of radical stunts and divisive extremism, according to Florida Voice News.
