Biden said "I don't recall" or "I have no goddamn idea" more than 100 times during the interview.
The transcripts of the interview of President Joe Biden in the classified documents case by Special Counsel Robert Hur over a span of two days have been released, showing the multiple memory lapses including when his son, Beau, died, forgetting when Trump was elected, and showing the President saying "I don't recall" or "I have no goddamn idea" more than 100 times.
According to a review of the transcripts from the Daily Mail, the president did forget the dates regarding his son Beau Biden's death as well as other things listed in Hur's report that brought the president's ability to lead the country into question.
During Hur’s interview with Biden, the president - contrary to what he said in response to Hur’s bombshell report in a press conference - brought up the death of his son first.
“What month did Beau die?” Biden asked himself out loud during the interview. The president recalled that May 30 was the day of Beau's death but could not remember the year at the time.
“Was it 2015 he died?” Biden asked. He then also had to be reminded of the year that President Donald Trump was elected after he first asked if Trump was elected in 2017, instead of the correct year, 2016.
When asked about a second box of classified documents in his house, the president replied, “I have no goddamn idea. I didn't even bother to go through them.”
Biden could not recall multiple different instances where he allegedly brought out classified documents with his staff as well.
According to the transcript, the president consistently got side-tracked on different tangents during questioning. He joked at one point, “I just hope you didn't find any risqué pictures of my wife in a bathing suit,” referring to the FBI’s search for classified documents in his home. “Which you probably did. She's beautiful,” he added.
Referring to the FBI’s search of the home for the classified documents, he said at one point that the “FBI knows my house better than I do.”
Hur summarized his report previously, writing that he did not plan to prosecute the president as a jury would likely find him to be a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."
