Officials on Monday morning said a body was found in Ventura County at Lake Piru, according to NBC7.
The recovery process began just before 10 a.m. and the identity of the person has not yet been released.
The body was discovered during a search for "Glee" actress Naya Rivera who has been missing since July 8 following a boat ride she took with her son who is 4-years-old. She went missing while she was swimming in a reservoir, according to sheriff’s officials.
"I can't make any sense of what happened," said Chris Dyer, the Ventura County Deputy. "We just know that we found a 4-year-old on a boat, and he said that his mother never got back in.
"So, right now, we're viewing this as a tragic accident."
She was northwest of Los Angeles at the time and her son was located, asleep, on a boat that was rented just a few hours before.
Divers, sonar and dogs have been searching the lake and the surrounding area for Rivera.
Efforts were shifted to a "recovery mission" a day after the 33-year-old went missing as she was presumed dead by authorities. Monday was the sixth day of the recovery mission.
A news conference was scheduled to be held by the Ventura County Sheriff at 2 p.m.
