The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Organization for Women, known as Mass NOW, is slated to host its third annual "Trans Period Pride" next month at the Boston Public Library. Attendees will hear about "trans experiences with menstruation" from the MA Trans Political Coalition, according to the organization's website.

The event, scheduled for June 17 and supported by Boston Mayor Wu's Office of LGBTQ Advancement, is intended to raise consciousness about the struggles trans-identifying individuals claim to face with their periods.

"Join Mass NOW for the third annual Trans Period Pride Consciousness Raising! Learn about trans experiences with menstruation from the MA Trans Political Coalition and participate in a group discussion to connect and share. This event is free to attend, and members of the Trans community and their allies are welcome," the event registry states.

A flyer for the event states, "Join Mass NOW and the MA Trans Political Coalition for a consciousness-raising discussion on the menstruation equity and the experiences of trans menstruators." Attendees are told that there will be a catered dinner, and "free period undies" would be provided to all attendees.

In addition to support from Democrat Mayor Wu's Office, the speakers will include those from the MA Trans Political Coalition, which includes the following LGBTQ activist groups: The Boston Alliance of LGBTQ Youth (BAGLY), the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth, and Mass NOW.  The city of Boston's Office of LGBTQ Advancement (MOLA) received hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer funds last year, according to reports.

The event comes shortly after Mayor Wu cancelled a taxpayer-funded program that provided hundreds of dollars in "wellness" allowances to queer and transgender migrants, including massages, hair appointments, and gym memberships, following backlash. The taxpayer-funded allowances came amid a massive $48.4 million budget deficit, the New York Post reported.
