Police have arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with a shooting that took place over the weekend by Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium. The shooting injured 12 people, including children.

"On Sunday, Oct. 25, detectives arrested 15-year-old Anthony Rivers III in connection with the shooting. Following consultation with State Attorney Jack Campbell, Rivers is facing 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent," the Tallahassee Police Department said in a statement on social media.

"Preliminary findings indicate a physical altercation occurred before shots were fired. Detectives believe the incident stemmed from a dispute between individuals known to one another. At this stage of the investigation, none of the victims appear to have been the intended targets," police added.

Police said that the teen is facing 11 counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent. “What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families,” Police Chief Lawrence Revell said.

“While this arrest marks a significant step forward, our work is far from over. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and getting answers for every family impacted by this tragedy,” he added.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. Video of the shooting as it took place went viral online over the weekend, where police rushed to the scene and rendered aid to victims. Witnesses reported scenes of chaos when the shooting broke out as people were filing out of the stadium.
