"The male victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The female victim[s]] were transported to University Hospital where they died of their injuries."
Three victims were found in the parking lot by the Louisville Police Department.
The police said in a statement, "About 12:00 this afternoon, the LMPD 3rd Division officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 6200 block of Willismore. When officers arrived, they located 2 females and 1 male that had been shot in the parking lot. The male victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The female victim[s]] were transported to University Hospital where they died of their injuries. There are no known suspects.”
The shooting was outside the Driver's License Branch at 6202 Willismore Drive off Dixie. Police told the public to avoid the area. According to the New York Times, officers confirmed it was not a murder suicide, meaning that one or more suspects are on the loose and have not been found. People drove off in a car after the shooting took place, the outlet reported.
Authorities are still investigating the shooting, looking at surveillance footages as well as other evidence and asking for descriptions from witnesses. Fox 56 reported that Maj. Donald Boekman said that he does not think there is an active public safety threat. “It’s absolutely a tragedy and I’m surprised that there weren’t more people injured with as many people who were standing outside,” he said.
If the public has more information, they can call the LMPD’s anonymous crime tip line at (502) 574-5673 or submit information through the department's anonymous tip portal.
