She was well-known for her sitcoms in the 70s and 80s.
Her publicist reportedly confirmed that she lost her life from cancer, and was accompanied by her family at the time she passed.
Somers defiantly laughed in the face of detractors who blasted her for supporting the 45th president.
"I’m happy about him," she said regarding former President Trump's first term in office back in 2018.
"I’m happy that the economy’s doing so much better."
She also had acknowledged that it is "very rare" for Trump to receive praise in left-wing Hollywood and joked, "now, my career is over!"
Somers, perhaps not surprisingly, was no fan of Barack Obama. Upon being asked her thoughts of his administration back in 2014, she remarked: "This has been the most divisive of all the administrations that I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime ... And it’s become divisive in the industry that if you’re not part of the group, you should probably keep your thoughts to yourself."
Luckily for Somers, she was not completely alone in her support of Trump. Fellow sitcom star Scott Baio is also on the record for offering public praise for the former president.
Numerous people took to social media to post their condolences for the loss of Somers:
Others had nothing but unkind words for her upon her passing, posting insults about her character, including her support of Trump, right-wing political leanings, and perhaps most bizarrely, suggestions that she had somehow betrayed "all women."
Somers famously fought to receive fair pay as a woman in the acting industry back when she was only 34 years old.
A profile on X that identifies itself as "The Official Suzanne Somers Twitter Page" has received numerous comments expressing their sadness at the actress' passing.
Numerous comments praised Somers kind personality, with some also thanking her for being a women's rights pioneer.
R Couri Hay, a longtime publicist for Somers, said the following in a statement:
"Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th.
"She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years. Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family.
"Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th.
"Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
