Schiff's false assertions led to Trump's first impeachment.
The vote broke down along party lines, with 212 Republicans in favor and 208 Democrats opposed. Four members of the GOP simply voted "present."
Schiff was adamant that President Donald Trump had colluded with Russia to sway the 2016 presidential contest, but it later turned out that not only was the entire plot hatched by the Hillary Clinton campaign and their opposition research contractors, but that the FBI knew about that and didn't tell the agents who were working the case.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna spoke on the House floor on Wednesday bringing the motion to censure.
"As chair of the House Intelligence Committee," she said, "Adam Schiff launched an all out political campaign built on baseless distortions against the US President at the expense of every single citizen in this country, and the honor of the House of Representatives.
"With access to sensitive information unavailable to most members of Congress, and certainly not accessible to the American people. Schiff abused his privileges claiming to know the truth while leaving American Americans in the dark about his web of law. Or about this web of lies lie so severe that they altered the course of the country forever.
"The lie that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 presidential election, revealed to be completely false by numerous investigations, including the Durham report, the lie that the Steele dossier a folder of falsified and since completely debunked collusions accusations funded by the Democrat Party had any shred of credibility, yet Schiff read it into congressional record as fact," Luna said.
Schiff thanked his colleagues for bringing the censure, claiming that it was due to his effectiveness. Schiff's false assertions led to Trump's first impeachment.
"To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution, I thank you," he said. "You honor me with your enmity. You flatter me with this falsehood. Your words tell me that I have been effective in the defense of our democracy and I am grateful."
This was the second attempt to censure Schiff, but it went through after a massive fine was dropped from the censure motion.
After gaining the House Speakership, Kevin McCarthy booted Schiff off of the Intelligence Committee, in part due to his failures to understand or factually parse the intelligence he reviewed regarding Russia collusion.
