Actor Alec Baldwin has been indicted on involuntary manslaughter over the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin fatally shot Hutchins on the set of the movie "Rust" in 2021.
On Friday, the grand jury in New Mexico decided to indict Alec Baldwin after hearing evidence presented by special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis. A single count of involuntary manslaughter was brought against him, according to NBC News.
Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted.
Baldwin's attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel law firm spoke on the charge and said: "We look forward to our day in court."
The indictment comes after previous involuntary manslaughter charges were dismissed by the same New Mexico prosecutors in April, prior to the grand jury's indictment.
The prosecutors announced in October that they would be filing new manslaughter charges against the Hollywood actor, most famous for his role in the NYC-based sitcom "30 Rock."
On the New Mexico set of Rust in October of 2021, a revolver that Baldwin was handling fired, striking cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin has claimed that he didn’t pull the trigger, but an FBI analysis concluded that Baldwin pulled the trigger of the gun, with the shooting also wounding director Joel Souza.
Baldwin and Rust weapons armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed have both been formally charged over the incident on set.
