Leader of the Opposition Andrew Scheer said that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau no longer has the moral authority to be capable of governing the country, and demanded his resignation.
The Bloc Quebecois, in a rare show of unity with the Conservatives, added their voices to the call for Trudeau to step down amid the current WE organization related scandals, where Trudeau and other top government officials are under suspicion for misuse of funds, according to La Presse.
Scheer has also called for other MPs who are frustrated over the scandal and Trudeau's involvement and lack of proper reaction to it to come forward and make their voices heard as well. Scheer said that if everybody who is concerned speaks up, it will greatly increase the chances of positive action being taken against the Liberals.
In addition, Scheer believes that the person who steps in after the new Conservative leader is selected in August should prioritize mounting a no-confidence motion against the minority Liberal government.
Many prominent conservatives have also been calling for the resignation of the Minister of Finance Bill Morneau, for his alleged involvement in the same scandal, regarding a suspicious check for $41,366 which it appears was used to cover personal expenses of his back in the year 2017.
This is not the first time Scheer has publicly attacked Trudeau in the press, or called for his resignation. Trudeau has repeatedly come under fire for his actions, or in some cases for inaction, as in the case of the #shutdowncanada protests, or the SNC Lavalin scandal.
Other cabinet ministers were quick to come to the defense of Trudeau and Morneau. However, a number of members are under suspicion of being complicit and/or participating in the scandal.
