Protests at an "all-ages" Drag Queen Story Hour event Saturday morning at Coquitlam Public Library's City Centre in British Columbia escalated when a group of Antifa activists appeared to attack members of the Gays Against Groomers group who were standing with signs at the event.

In footage captured by The Post Millennial's Amy Hamm, a group identifying themselves as gays against groomers can be heard chanting "Do no harm," while the Drag Queen Story Hour defenders shouted back; "There is no harm!" The group is not affiliated with the US-based Gays Against Groomers organization.

The drag queen Conni Smudge, who is known for reading books on LGBT topics for children, was set to read at the Coquitlam Public Library event.

An anti-grooming activist holding a sign saying "SEXUALIZING CHILDREN IS CHILD ABUSE" appeared to have been accosted by the group of hooded left-wing activists, with the mob forcibly pushing him back while screaming in his face and attempting to steal his sign.

Other Gays Against Groomers activists, including a man carrying an LGBT Pride flag, also appear to have been assaulted by the masked assailants dressed all in black.

Dozens of people can be seen in the videos, though the pro-Drag-Queen-Story-Hour side heavily outnumbered the relatively small group of Gays Against Groomers.

The mob poured out into the street, with Antifa members following and pushing the Drag Queen Story Hour critics away from the building.

"Get away!," "Don't touch!," and "That's assault!," were yelled by the anti-groomers at the Antifa mob.

The Post Millennial's Amy Hamm reported being pushed "a couple of times" by the agitators during the scuffling.

Other tactics employed by the left-wing activists involved using noisemakers and bells to drown out the anti-grooming protestors.

"Leave the kids alone!," a protestor could be heard chanting through his megaphone. "They're sexualizing children!"

Video footage also shows police officers arriving on scene and attempting to diffuse the situation. Upon their arrival, the Antifa activists began dancing to music playing from their speakers in the street, still trying to drown out the anti-grooming chants from those on the other side of the aisle.

No arrests appear to have been made yet.

On the library's website, it is stated that the event was specifically for ages 0-8, and included an activity where children made their very own drag queen dolls.

As reported by Vancouver City News, the event was expected to draw out protestors on both sides of the debate over the sexualization of children.

In a statement to City News prior to the event taking place, the Coquitlam Public library said "The goal of a Drag Story Time, as held in many libraries across Canada, is to model inclusiveness, kindness and acceptance, as well as to promote a love of reading."

"It is a voluntary event for people who may identify as LGBTQ2IA+, people in same-sex caregiver(s) families, their allies, and interested members of the public," they continued, adding  that there was "online pushback" and "small protests and counter-protests" at last year's Drag Queen Story Hour event.

According to drag queen Conni Smudge, “Sexualizing children is not what we're about."

"We're about creating an all-inclusive space where everyone can be themselves. Some people have never experienced what we actually do. They're making judgments without having any information," the LGBT activist told the outlet.

This isn't the first Drag Queen Story Hour marketed towards children that the Coquitlam Public library has held.

In August, the same City Centre branch held a "Drag King and Queen Story Time," put on by a performer called Skim, a "non binary lesbian" and another performer named Cheryl Trade, a "TwoSpirit Queer Indigenous Drag Queen."

The age group for that past event is listed as babies and toddlers aged three to five years old.
