Rachel Droze, reporting for local news outlet WHAS, said that the Black Lives Matter's Louisville chapter is "heading to the bank to get a cashiers check to post Quintez Brown's bail."

Brown was arrested earlier this week for the attempted assassination of local mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg. He was charged with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment.

Droze posted footage of the cashiers check being handed in at the clerks office to secure Brown's release.

Brown pleaded not guilty on February 15 and his attorney stated that Brown is a scholar and "a great kid." Bail was set at $100,000. He also said that Brown "is battling some serious mental and emotional issues."

Brown is a BLM activist and black nationalist in Louisville who has been praised by both former President Barack Obama and MSNBC host Joy Ann Reid. He was also was a writer for the local Courier Journal. The $100,000 is payable in full cash, according to WLKY, and was raised from $75,000.

It was on Monday morning that Craig Greenberg, a Democrat candidate for Louisville mayor, was in his office and Brown allegedly came in with a gun and started firing. Staff was able to get the door barricaded, but not before a bullet grazed Greenberg's sweater.

In response to concerns that the money raised by BLM was not being used properly, BLM Louisville slammed a police officer who was exonerated of the killing of local woman Breonna Taylor.

BLM Louisville has expressed support for Brown since the morning of the alleged shooting, saying in response to concerns about Brown's motivations that "the radicalization of any Black person in American [sic] is justification of erasure of the genocide against Black people." They went on to say that they "have no idea what transpired in this situation."
