BREAKING: Cori Bush loses AGAIN to Wesley Bell in Missouri House race

Incumbent House Democrat Wesley Bell defeated former Rep. Cori Bush again on Tuesday in a primary rematch, with Bell clinching the nomination at around 9pm on election night. Bush ran again after losing her seat in the last go-around, only to lose again to the same opponent.

Bell, who is more moderate and is more pro-Israel than Bush, clinched around 70 percent of the vote to Bush's 26 percent as of 9 pm eastern with 26 percent of the vote counted. 

Bell unseated Bush in 2024 after Bush’s rise as a progressive in Congress. Bush often voted with the far-left members of the House, known as the "Squad," which includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and others. 

Bush, who was backed by the Democratic Socialists of America in the race, had attacked Bell over his support from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Bell's win is also a victory for the  more establishment wing of the Democrat Party, as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Congressional Black Caucus PAC had endorsed Bell ahead of the election. 

Bell is expected to have a smooth-sailing victory in the general election in Missouri's 1st Congressional District, which is a deep blue stronghold. According to NBC News, Bell overwhelmed Bush on the airwaves and was able to outspend Bush by a ratio of 27 to 1. 

On Tuesday, when Bell cast his own vote, he slammed Bush for talking so much about Israel, saying that she would go on “over and over ... about an issue that is not impacting folks right here in St. Louis.”

“And while we take those issues seriously, you know, the M in Missouri doesn’t stand for Middle East,” Bell added “It stands for Missouri.”
