Bowman has been charged with False Fire Alarm.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman has been ordered to appear before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on Thursday after he pulled a fire alarm to delay proceedings in the Cannon building in September.
The judicial summons document states that Bowman has been charged with False Fire Alarm, a misdemeanor charge in the District of Columbia with a punishment of up to six months in prison, a fine, or both. Bowman has been ordered to appear before the court’s criminal division at 9:30 am. Noncompliance with the summons could result in a warrant for Bowman’s arrest.
"Is Jamaal Bowman going to be thrown into the DC Gulag without bail," Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote in on X. "Will the FBI be raiding his home in the middle of the night? How many days in solitary confinement will he receive?"
The alarm was pulled during a meeting on a Republican-backed stopgap bill to keep the government funded past the Sept. 30 deadline.
After the incident, Greene called for Bowman to be prosecuted "using the same law they used to prosecute J6 defendants for interfering with an official proceeding."
"Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled the fire alarm in the Cannon building this afternoon and interrupted the official proceedings of the House as Republicans worked to keep the government open."
"The Democrats will do anything to make sure it's shut down because billions of dollars are not going to their favorite country, Ukraine," Greene told reporters.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
