BREAKING: Dem rep joins DOGE caucus to 'reduce ineffective government spending'

Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) has joined the congressional DOGE caucus as its first Democrat. The organization headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will be looking to cut costs and slash regulations imposed by the federal government.  

According to Puchbowl's Jake Sherman, Moskowitz said of the situation, "Today. I will join the Congressional DOGE Caucus, because I believe that streamlining government processes and reducing ineffective government spending should not be a partisan issue. I've been clear that there are ways we can reorganize our government to make it work better for the American people." 

"Specifically, the Department of Homeland Security, while very necessary, has gotten too big. The Caucus should look at the bureaucracy that DHS has become and include recommendations to make Secret Service and FEMA independent federal agencies with a direct report to the White House. It's not practical to have 22 agencies under this one department. I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner with my colleagues to remove FEMA and Secret Service from DHS," Moskowitz added. 

Moskowitz joins as the first Democratic representative in the caucus which was launched by Reps. Aaron Bean (R-FL) and Pete Sessions (R-TX), per a news release from Nov. 19. The congressmen said at the time that forming that the caucus would help support Musk and Ramaswamy’s efforts to “reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government."

Moskowitz has portrayed himself as a moderate as of late during the election cycle, even joking on X when Trump appointee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. floated the idea of having only cane sugar in Coca-Cola as opposed to high-fructose corn syrup, “If the plan is to make all Coke, Mexican Coke, I’m in.” 

The Florida Democrat also cheered Trump’s nomination of Elise Stefanik for US Ambassador to the United Nations.
