Federal prosecutors have opened an investigation into senior leaders of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation over allegations that tens of millions of dollars raised during the 2020 protests were mishandled, according to two sources who spoke with Fox News.

The Justice Department probe, led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, is reportedly examining whether foundation leaders or affiliated organizations misused charitable contributions collected in the wake of George Floyd’s death. The group brought in over $90 million during that period.

Investigators have already issued subpoenas and executed at least one search warrant as part of the ongoing inquiry, though no criminal charges have been filed.

The DOJ has not commented publicly on the case.

The Associated Press first reported the investigation, noting that it began under the Biden administration but has gained new attention under the Trump administration. The probe also reportedly extends to other Black-led activist organizations that rose to prominence during the 2020 unrest.

In a statement to the AP, the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation denied being the subject of any federal criminal investigation, saying it remains “committed to transparency and accountability.”

As The Post Millennial reported in February, the controversy surrounding BLM’s finances deepened when it was revealed that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) had issued a $24.7 million grant to the George Soros–funded Tides Center, which later funneled more than $12.6 million to BLM Grassroots. The funds were distributed at the height of the 2020 riots, following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

That discovery emerged after the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation sued the Tides Center in California, accusing the nonprofit of withholding $33 million in donations. Tides later clarified that the money had been designated for BLM Grassroots—a separate organization—as well as other racial justice groups.
