President-elect Donald Trump has appointed William Owen Scharf, a former prosecutor in the immunity case, to be his White House Staff Secretary.

Trump announced the pick on Saturday, and wrote, "I am pleased to announce that William Owen Scharf will serve as Assistant to the President and White House Staff Secretary. Will is a highly skilled attorney who will be a crucial part of my White House team. He has played a key role in defeating the Election Interference and Lawfare waged against me, including by winning the Historic Immunity Decision in the Supreme Court."

"Will has served as a federal prosecutor, worked diligently to confirm Judges and Justices during my first term, clerked for two Federal Appeals Court Judges, and was an award winning graduate at Harvard Law School and Magna Cum Laude at Princeton. Will is going to make us proud as we Make America Great Again," Trump added.

The Trump immunity case made it all the way up to the Supreme Court of the United States, where it was decided that presidents have absolute immunity for core official actions as the executive, presumed immunity for other official actions, but no immunity for personal conduct.

Other people from Trump's legal team on the immunity case have been appointed by the president-elect. Trump's lead counsel on the case, John Sauer, was tapped as the Solicitor General for the United States earlier this week. Also from the immunity case is Emil Bove, who Trump has picked for principal associate deputy attorney general and John Blanche has been chosen for Deputy Attorney General.
