Pennsylvania state legislator Doug Mastriano is projected to win the Republican primary in state’s open governor's race Tuesday night.
He will go on to face off against the state's Democrat Attorney General Josh Shapiro in the general election in November after being endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
Mastriono was projected by the Associated Press to win the nomination despite concerns among some Pennsylvania Republicans that Mastriano might have difficulty winning in November due to his questioning the results of the 2020 election.
Some in the GOP attempted to create a base of support for Lou Barletta, Mastriano's primary opponent.
Mastriano’s victory continues Trump’s "kingmaker" winning streak in Republican primaries across the US, just a few weeks after Trump’s endorsement pushed Ohio Republican Senate nominee JD Vance to victory.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
