Elections Canada mistakenly inputted a lead for Liberal candidate Maninder Sidhu in the Brampton East riding. The riding's polling stations remain open at the time of publishing.
The mistake was seen and had to be accounted for on several networks, including CBC's Rosemary Barton, who explained to viewers: "What we're told is that Elections Canada mistakenly inputted some data before polls close in a different part of the country," she said.
"We aren't going to tell you where, because the polls are still open... It's in the Liberal numbers. Those Liberal numbers are up one... Those are early results that we actually shouldn't have at that stage."
Global News' David Akin caught the error while showing the Greater Toronto Area live on the air, covering the riding with his hand, and telling viewers that the riding was not yet closed.
