In a new episode of the Joe Rogan Experience that dropped on Tuesday, X owner Elon Musk said that Republicans were "suppressed at 10 times the rate of Democrats" on Twitter, now known as X, before he bought the social media giant.

"The degree to which Twitter was simply an arm of the government was not well understood by the public," Musk said in response to Rogan bringing up the Twitter Files that were released late 2022 through the beginning of 2023. He compared it to Soviet news agency Pravda, and said that Twitter was "a state publication."

Musk said that old Twitter was "propped up," adding that social media giant was a "state publication."

The X owner said that under old Twitter, "there was basically oppression of any views that would even, I would say be considered middle of the road, but certainly anything on the right. And I’m not talking about like far right, I’m just talking about mildly right."

"Republicans were suppressed at 10 times the rate of Democrats," he said.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
