Kirk will be seated in the audience as the president's guest, according to Mary Margaret Olohan at the Daily Wire. During his speech, Trump will affirm that America is “one nation under God” and will call on lawmakers to “firmly reject political violence against our fellow citizens” in reference to political violence that has taken place in America over the last few years.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking to a group of students at Utah Valley University campus on September 10. His wife has since taken on the role as head at Turning Point USA and during the memorial service following Kirk’s assassination, stood with the president in celebrating Kirk’s life and legacy at TPUSA as well as on the country.
At the time, Erika spoke about the trial of enduring the death of her husband, as well as forgave his killer.
“President Trump has been a source of strength for Erika, constantly checking in with her over the last five months, and Erika is incredibly honored to be invited by the president to attend tonight’s State of the Union,” Turning Point USA spokesman Matt Shupe told reporters. “Erika has been thrust into an enormously important role by fate and tragedy and because Charlie chose her should the horrible moment ever come, and she has risen to the occasion with grace, dignity, and a lot of hard work.”
Shupe also pointed to the work that Erika Kirk has done since taking over the organization, which experienced record growth in the wake of Charlie's death. “Her leadership has been incredible to witness,” he added. “No one should ever be asked to do what she has done under the circumstances, but she is an inspiration to the whole TPUSA family, the nation, and to young people everywhere.”
Tyler Robinson has been identified as the alleged assassin in the case and is facing the death penalty in Utah if he is found guilty. It has been reported that Robinson confessed multiple different times to others leading up to getting arrested. A text Robinson reportedly sent to his trans roommate and lover Lance Twiggs, said, "I am, I'm sorry" when Twiggs asked if he was the one who shot Kirk.
Robinson's parents also told authorities that he admitted to the assassination before they helped turn him in. Robinson additionally sent messages to friends in a Discord channel reportedly admitting to the assassination.
Since the shooting, some have posited theories without evidence that those closest to Kirk were complicit in his assassination. TPUSA's Tyler Bowyer addressed some of these claims on Tuesday.
"The attacks on Turning Point, Charlie, Charlie’s wife, his children, his legacy— are supported by those with an agenda and in many cases funded by international sources that loathe Americans, President Trump, conservative ideology percolating amongst young people and by extension activists who defend them. We are at a critical time in this country where the left has failed so miserably at convincing Americans to get on board for their radical woke stances and now are equipping low-IQ performance media to destroy the country," Bowyer said.
"This is their Hail Mary to attempt to destroy candidates for President, win midterms and apply their vision for hijacking elections in red states— through ranked choice voting, motor voter mail ballots, expanding ballot manipulation schemes including controlling adjudication, packing the Supreme Court and making DC and Puerto Rico a state. If this happens, America will become unrecognizable and we are one and a half elections away from that.
"There is no greater evil than what America is up against right now. Patriots will need to band together, prioritize winning, reject mentally challenged attacks on conservatives, busy themselves with positive things to defeat Democrats at the ballot box— in order to recognize the threat at our doorstep, or else we will live in despotism for a generation," he said in a post on X.
