The FBI is investigating “what appears to be an attempted assassination” on Donald Trump after shots were fired by Secret Service agents at a man who was carrying a gun on the GOP nominee's West Palm Beach golf course on Sunday.

According to the Associated Press, the FBI said that it is investigating the incident that "appears to be an attempted assassination” on Trump. The person with the deadly weapon was taken into custody in a neighboring county near the Mar-a-Lago estate.

An AK-style weapon was found at the scene after Secret Service agents spotted the man on the golf course with the firearm while Trump was playing a round of golf.

USSS agents took around four to five shots at the suspect, who has been described as a white male in his 60s. He fled the scene after the agents fired the shots and was later detained.

The suspect two backpacks on a fence as well as a GoPro camera at the scene, he was about 400 yards to 500 yards away from Trump when he was hiding in some shrubbery as Trump played in a nearby hole. When agents fired at him, he dropped the gun and fled in a vehicle and was taken into custody in a neighboring county.

This follows another assassination attempt on Trump earlier this summer, where he was holding a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. A few minutes into the speech, would-be assassin Thomas Mattew Crooks took several shots at Trump, hitting him in the ear and coming within centimeters of ending his life.

Three audience members at the rally behind the president, Corey Comperatore, David Dutch, and James Copenhaver, where all shot as well. Comperatore died from the shots as he shielded his family from the bullets. Dutch and Copenhaver were critically injured, but were able to recover.

This is a breaking story. Please refresh for updates.

The FBI and SS incompetence on full display....again. Only, I don't think it's incompetence, more like maleficence.
