Although not as large, Freedom Convoy counter protests have sprung up across Canada on Saturday. This news comes as the Freedom Convoy enters its second week of protest.
"Hey hey. Ho ho - all these truckers got to go," chanted approximately 300 counter protestors in Ottawa. "Whose city? Our city!" can be heard by counter protestors. "Go home dipsh*ts," the counter protestors also yelled.
In response, Freedom Convoy protestors chanted "love!"
Meanwhile, Vancouver saw approximately 200 counter protestors blocking traffic and preventing the convoy from entering the downtown core. Counter protestors blocked traffic using their bicycles and chanted anti-trucker slogans.
Vancouver counter protestors were confident enough to block traffic due to the Vancouver mayor issuing a scathing anti-trucker statement Friday night.
In his statement, Mayor Kennedy Stewart said, "Hate has no place in our city. We all have to stand together against hate in all its forms, including when it targets frontline and healthcare workers."
"Vancouver doesn't want you here. Make your point and then go home," he continued.
After nearly an hour of gridlock, the Vancouver Freedom Convoy managed to drive around the counter protestor blockade and entered downtown Vancouver.
Despite counter protests, Freedom Convoy supporters came out in droves across the country. The Post Millennial reported earlier Saturday about two East Indian men going viral for their message to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
"No more Bollywood dancing! Shame on you! We are your white fringe minority! I'm a white supremacist. Here I am! Lock him up! Lock up Trudeau!" they said.
The two men were seen with signs that read "FREEDOM" and "Convoy for Freedom." The men were referencing the prime minister's comments, in which he said that protestors were racists, and part of a "fringe minority."
