In the wake of violence in midtown Manhattan on Thursday night as a result of actions by pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel demonstrators, Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a statement saying that he does "unequivocally condemn these brutal attacks on visibly Jewish New Yorkers and we will not tolerate anti-Semitic violent gang harassment and intimidation."

Cuomo went on to describe the melting-pot atmosphere of diversity the Big Apple is known for. "New York is the vibrant and dynamic home for people from around the world. This tapestry makes New York the extraordinary place that it is.

"Those of all faiths, backgrounds and ethnicities must be able to walk the streets safely and free from harassment and violence. Justice need to be done and I am directing the New York State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to offer their assistance in the investigation of these attacks."

A pro-Palestinian demonstration in midtown Manhattan turned violent after pro-Palestinian protesters engaged in violence against Jewish onlookers after making their way to the Diamond District.

Pro-Palestinian activists, who were part of a vehicle convoy, hurled anti-Semitic expletives at Jewish onlookers and lobbed incendiary devices at police and Jewish people who gathered in the area.

Footage of the violence unfolded on social media as pro-Palestinian protesters were seen yelling "f*ck you Jews."

Gov. Cuomo was a Democrat darling, and the delight many felt as regards his overly philosophical press conferences garnered the governor an International Emmy Award.

Since those salad days, the governor has faced sexual harassment scandals with accusations from some ten women, an investigation into his handling of the public nursing homes in New York state, which saw excess deaths of 15,000 elderly attributable to his policies, and an inquiry into whether he used state resources and staff to aid in the writing of his pandemic memoir.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
