The House Oversight Committee has announced that they will hold a session on January 10 to consider a resolution to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress.

Hunter Biden refused to appear on December 13 before House committees that subpoenaed him, instead issuing a speech on the Capitol lawn stating that he would speak with the committees only in a public hearing, against House rules.

"Hunter Biden blatantly defied two lawful subpoenas when he did not appear for his December deposition. Next week, we will consider a resolution and accompanying report to hold him in contempt of Congress for violating federal law. Judiciary GOP will also hold a markup," The House Oversight Committee wrote on X.

In a press release, Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan said, "Our investigation has produced significant evidence suggesting President Biden knew of, participated in, and benefitted from his family cashing in on the Biden name. We planned to question Hunter Biden about this record of evidence, but he blatantly defied two lawful subpoenas, choosing to read a prepared statement outside of the Capitol instead of appearing for testimony as required."

"Hunter Biden’s willful refusal to comply with our subpoenas constitutes contempt of Congress and warrants referral to the appropriate United States Attorney’s Office for prosecution. We will not provide him with special treatment because of his last name," they added.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
