The congresswoman was accused of "…promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel."
The mostly symbolic measure, introduced by Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) on Monday, served as a formal public criticism of the progressive “Squad” member’s most recent antisemitic comments in response to Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists.
Twenty-two Democrats joined 212 Republicans to censure the radical congresswoman. Only four Republicans voted against the measure and four lawmakers voted present.
In the resolution, the Palestinian-American congresswoman was accused of "…promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel."
Tlaib received bipartisan criticism after posting a video on X last week attacking President Joe Biden for his support of the Jewish state which featured the phrase "From the river to the sea," a call for ethnic cleansing of Jews from Israel.
In response to the backlash, the Jew-hating Democratic congresswoman doubled down writing, "From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity."
StopAntisemitism posted on X in response to Tlaib’s explanation that the phrase refers to "…the full erasure of the Jewish state, from Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea," adding that the chant is Hamas’ battle cry, noting "You echo terrorists."
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the phrase "…is fundamentally a call for a Palestinian state extending from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, territory that includes the State of Israel, which would mean the dismantling of the Jewish state. It is an antisemitic charge denying the Jewish right to self-determination, including through the removal of Jews from their ancestral homeland."
Fellow Democrats, including ones from her state of Michigan, slammed Tlaib for her genocidal rhetoric.
