"We weren't allows to ask about the 'big guy," Shapley said.
His father Joe Biden was Vice President under Barack Obama from 2008 to 2016, and a senator before that. Biden has repeatedly said that he had no knowledge of his sons business affairs in Ukraine and China.
"We weren't allowed to ask questions about that," Shapley told Fox. "We weren't allows to ask about the 'big guy,' we weren't allowed to include certain names in document requests and search warrants. So were were precluded from following that line of questioning."
Shapley revealed to Congress that he believes, with evidence, that the Department of Justice obstructed the investigation the IRS was performing into Hunter Biden's taxes. He stated in testimony that as soon as Joe Biden became the apparent Democrat nominee for president in 2020, the investigation slowed, with the DOJ essentially refusing to take action. The whole thing got mired in red tape and delays.
The investigation was forced to stop prior to the 2020 election, and when it resumed after the election, there were further delays and blocks from the Department of Justice.
"We were conducting an investigation of Hunter Biden," Shapley said, "and we were trying to follow the normal process. We were trying to get to the bottom of it. And ultimately if it was going to lead to another individual we should follow that to determine what's actually happening."
"There were definately hinderances," he said, "that I've never seen before in my 14 years, concerning this investigation that didn't allow us to follow through."
