JD Vance, the newly chosen Republican vice-presidential nominee, has publicly called for President Joe Biden to resign from the presidency.

In a post, Vance highlighted the hypocrisy among Democratic officials who are urging Biden to drop out of the presidential race without also calling for his resignation from the presidency.

“Everyone calling on Joe Biden to *stop running* without also calling on him to resign the presidency is engaged in an absurd level of cynicism,” Vance said. “If you can't run, you can't serve."

“He should resign now,” Vance declared.

Vance's comments come as top democrat voices have continued to call on Biden to step aside before the DNC and allow the party to choose an alternative as the nominee for president. The calls are motivated by a widespread belief among democrats that Biden is unable to beat former president Donald Trump in the general election.
