In a secret ballot vote behind closed doors, 112 members voted against Jordan remaining as the speaker-designate, while just 89 were in favor.
Rep. Jim Jordan is reportedly out as GOP nominee for House Speaker after a third vote on Friday afternoon failed to elect the Ohio Congressman to the seat.
Multiple House members told NBC News that Jordan is "no longer" the House Republican Conference speaker-designate.
In a secret ballot vote behind closed doors, 112 members voted against Jordan remaining as the speaker-designate, while just 89 were in favor of Jordan continuing in the position.
The question on the ballot was reportedly a "yes or no" on whether Jordan should remain, with Jordan reportedly saying himself after the vote that he would remove his name.
Members told the outlet that new candidates must submit their intention to run by Sunday evening, ahead of a candidate forum set for Monday at 6:30 pm.
"The most popular Republican in Congress was just knifed in an anonymous vote in a secret closed door meeting in the basement of the Capitol," Gaetz wrote after the vote on X. "This is the Swamp at work."
25 GOP Reps voted against Jordan during Friday’s vote, 22 in the second round, and 20 during the first round.
Kevin McCarthy, the former House Speaker who was ousted from his position earlier this month and nominated Jordan on the House floor on Friday, said "We’ll have to go back to the drawing board. What history will look at the crazy eights led by Gaetz, the amount of damage they’ve done to this party, this country, is insurmountable. I've never seen this amount of damage done with just a few people for their own personalities," according to CNN. This is a breaking story and will be updated.
