Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Biden, "How much does it bother you that Vice President Harris might soon, for political reasons, start to distance herself from your economic plan?"
Talking with reporters on Thursday, Joe Biden said that Kamala Harris wasn’t going to deviate from his economic policies.
Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Biden, "How much does it bother you that Vice President Harris might soon, for political reasons, start to distance herself from your economic plan?"
Biden responded, "She’s not going to."
This comes amid reports that Harris will attempt to distance herself from some of Biden's policies. Her advisors said, "she wants to break with Biden on issues on which he's unpopular." Despite this, her advisors have also stated that her detailed agenda is not likely to differ in substance from Biden’s stances but instead will have smaller shifts highlighting Harris’ resume, with the current vice president planning to lean into her previous role as a prosecutor.
"She recognizes that there are particular places within their shared agenda where her values and her voice could particularly shine through," a Harris advisor said.
Harris’ team of economic advisors is in the process of creating a policy framework that focuses on affordable housing, lowering costs for families, taking on corporate excess, and boosting small businesses. Harris is expected to call for an expanded tax credit, paid family leave, affordable child care, and lower healthcare and drug costs, advisors said. All these are issues that Biden had proposed earlier in his term.
