Kamala once called Trump’s border wall a “medieval vanity project.”
In her speech to the Democratic National Convention last week, Harris said she would revive and sign a bipartisan border security bill that Trump had opposed because it did not go far enough to stem the open border policies of the Biden-Harris administration. The bill would reportedly still allow for over at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants into the US each year, but it also carved out around $650 million for the wall, per Axios.
She once called the wall “un-American” while Trump was building it, noted and characterized the decision as the latest example of Harris flip-flopping on her past liberal positions such as supporting Medicare for All and banning fracking — proposals that aides say she now is against.
The VP has also called Trump’s border a “medieval vanity project" in 2019. Although she claims to have moved to the center on immigration by reportedly embracing the wall, she is still opposed to family separation and the mass deportations the Trump has committed his potential presidency to. Harris also pushed the hoax that border agents were whipping immigrants.
The Trump Campaign released the following statement in response to reports Harris now supports Trump’s border wall, a claim it says is “preposterous” and “false.”
“How much longer will the mainstream media allow Kamala Harris to hide and use staff to speak on her behalf? It’s DAY 37 of ZERO interviews and Kamala’s anonymous campaign sources are now claiming she supports President Trump’s border wall — this is a preposterous and false claim.” the campaign said.
“Kamala’s RECORD proves she is pro-open border. She called the wall ‘un-American,’ a ‘waste of taxpayer money,’ ‘medieval,’ and said it isn't going to ‘stop’ illegal immigration. As a senator, Kamala tried to block President Trump's construction of the border wall. As Border Czar, Kamala Harris halted construction of the border wall. Kamala’s ACTIONS speak much louder than the WORDS of the anonymous staff she is cowering behind."
