US Women's soccer star Megan Rapinoe was th Grand Marshall of Seattle Pride on Sunday where she was confronted by The Post Millennial for her advocacy of boys playing girls sports. Rapinoe and her team were famously beaten in a match against the FC Dallas under-15 boys squad in against the US Women's National Team in 2017.

"Your US Women's soccer team famously lost to high school boys, do you really think it's fair for these same boys to be competing in girls' sports?" Rapinoe would not respond, instead picking up her red Solo cup and allowing her security guard to get between her and reporter Katie Daviscourt.

"Do you think it's fair? Why should trans people should compete against young girls? Do you think they're gonna get hurt?"

Rapinoe did not respond at all, instead laughing and saying "oh my God" without acknowledging the reporter. In the background, chants for Gaza could be heard. It was only a few months ago that Rapinoe tried to cancel a women's soccer player for speaking up for a young person who desisted from being trans.

Rapinoe has spoken out against "trans sports bans," otherwise known as prohibitions against men and boys playing in women and girls competition. She has said that protecting women's sports is discriminatory and that "discrimination hurts everyone." She penned an op ed in the Washington Post on the subject in 2021, saying that keeping women and girls safe is among the many "political assaults on LGBTQ people" she'd seen in recent years.

"Transgender kids want the opportunity to play sports for the same reasons other kids do: to be a part of a team where they feel like they belong. Proponents of these bills argue that they are protecting women. As a woman who has played sports my whole life, I know that the threats to women’s and girls’ sports are lack of funding, resources and media coverage; sexual harassment; and unequal pay," she said.

She went on to say that women who are treated unfairly in competition due to the inclusion of males "must stand up and demand that exclusion is not done in our name." Without at all noting the importance of protecting women and girls, she said, "The value of participating in sports is well-documented. Transgender kids deserve the same chances to enjoy sports; to gain confidence, self-respect and leadership skills; and to learn what it means to be part of a team. When we tell transgender girls that they can’t play girls’ sports — or transgender boys that they can’t play boys’ sports — they miss out on these important experiences and opportunities. And we lose the right to say we care about children."

In 2017, Rapinoe led her team to a loss against the under-15 boys FC Dallas team in preparation for the US team's match against Russia. The women's team were at th highest level of soccer competition for the fairer sex, while the boys were not even 15-years-old.
