Deja Nicole Taylor, 25, has been sentenced by a judge to two years in prison after pleading guilty to child neglect charges in August.
Upon completion of the prison sentence, Taylor has been ordered to serve two years of probation and must undergo substance abuse treatment, parenting classes, and mental health treatment, according to the Newport News Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
Taylor, who is already serving a 21-month federal prison sentence on felony firearms charges, has been ordered to serve the new prison sentence consecutively to the one she is currently serving.
In January, Taylor's 6-year-old son brought a firearm to Richneck Elementary School and shot his teacher Abby Zwerner in the classroom. Zwerner has filed a $40 million lawsuit over the incident.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
