The office of Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan has confirmed that one member of the Canadian Armed Forces passed away following the crash of a Snowbird jet in British Columbia on Sunday.

The jet, which crashed in a residential area near the city's airport, was captured on video on its way down, as multiple eye-witnesses reported that the plane went up in flames mid-air.

WARNING: Video may be disturbing to some viewers. No graphic content is shown.

The RCAF has announced that they are working on "determining the status of our personnel and supporting emergency personnel. When appropriate," and that "more information will be made available."

In a tweet, the Snowbirds confirmed that one member had died, and one had sustained injuries. It was clarified later on that the injuries are not serious or life threatening.
