A student was shot at a middle school in Pine Bluff, Arkansas as the school reopened for in-person learning on Monday, New York Post reports.
The shooting at Watson Chapel Junior High School resulted in one injury, with the student taken to a nearby hospital reportedly in serious condition. The student's parents were notified of the incident.
One student was arrested by police, although no information has been released regarding the student or the circumstances of the arrest.
"ALL campuses are on lock down. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Pine Bluff Police Department are on site to control the situation," the school district said in a Facebook post.
"This was an isolated incident and all students are safe at this time," they reassured, further noting that the school is shut down by police at the moment and that parents will not be able to pick up their children until later.
The lockdown was lifted by noon.
